Bouygues Energies & Services, which helps regions, businesses and buildings to manage the energy and digital transitions, and Construction Venture, Bouygues Construction’s start-up investment vehicle, have signed an agreement to invest in PowiDian, a specialist in “green” hydrogen solutions for regional energy independence.
In order to advance the energy transition, PowiDian develops solutions to generate 100% renewable electricity for isolated and self-sufficient sites.
These generators work with all types of renewable energy. Energy is stored in the form of green hydrogen, which is generated by electrolysis. The energy is then released at the desired moment by way of a fuel cell.
PowiDian is currently developing the MobHylpower® line of zero-emission hydrogen generator sets to replace noisy and polluting diesel sets.
“Having been financed and supported by Xerys Funds for the past 6 years, we are proud to name the Bouygues Group as a PowiDian investor. This financial involvement is accompanied by an ambitious commercial agreement that should allow us to significantly accelerate our development,” explained Jean-Marie Bourgeais, PowiDian’s CEO.
Bouygues Energies & Services supports its customers through the energy transition, offering a range of green hydrogen services in France and abroad. This investment agreement and the associated partnership contract are part of an ambitious co-development strategy, allowing Bouygues Energies & Services to expand its range of green hydrogen solutions to effectively respond to its customers’ energy challenges. As a result, Bouygues Construction’s Energy & Services Division is able to strengthen its position, in line with its subsidiary, Kraftanlagen, which has already been active in the green hydrogen market in Germany and Switzerland for several years.
“Our customers’ needs and expectations are primarily focused on environmental issues. Green hydrogen will play a key role in the decarbonisation process. PowiDian’s recognised expertise in the hydrogen market, as well as its unique European platform for testing and qualifying equipment, will be a major asset for our company’s services in this emerging market,” noted Maxime Mérolle, Managing Director of Bouygues Energies & Services’ Products and New Technologies Division.
